Hibiscus Children’s Center hosted an exciting evening on February 3rd at the “Let’s Fiesta” Wine & Dine Around South America. Nearly 200 guests enjoyed a culinary journey at Grand Harbor sampling a wonderful variety of South American cuisine and wines.   Event proceeds benefit youth living at Hibiscus Village in Vero Beach where teens receive life changing services to help them heal from the trauma they have experienced and give them a brighter future.

Just a few of the culinary delights included Shrimp Ceviche, aji de Gallina, Platanos Fritos, and a dessert favorite, Churros with Vanilla Ice Cream.   Wines included Alamos Malbec, Papi Sauvignon Blanc, Intipalka Chardonnay, and AgaVida Agave. A strolling Flamenco guitarist enhanced the ambience throughout the evening.  CEO Matt Markley welcomed and thanked guests for their support and co-chairs Diane McGinn and Gail Prauss for planning a special evening. Diane McGinn shared her positive experience as a member of the Hibiscus Indian River Guild and how everyone’s support of the event benefits children living at Hibiscus Village.

During the evening, several lucky guests enjoyed winning fabulous drawing prizes which included 1st Prize - $500 gift certificate to The Tides, 2nd Prize - Dinner for 4 at Grand Harbor Beach Club, 3rd Prize - $200 gift certificate to Ocean Grill, and several great silent auction items.

Thank you to our generous sponsors for helping to make this evening a memorable and successful event to benefit youth!  Main Sponsors - Linda & Mel Teetz, Food Sponsors - Exchange Club of Vero Beach and Jan & Mike Harrell, Wine Sponsors - Gail Hart & Daniel Featherston and Bonnie & Dave Wilson, and Regions Sponsors - Helen Taylor Robertson and Laurie & William Stewart.  Special thanks to co-chairs Gail Prauss and Diane McGinn and their committee of volunteers who worked hard to plan and execute every detail of this delicious culinary affair!

All proceeds directly support the mission of Hibiscus Children’s Center.  Hibiscus Village provides safe haven to teens and trauma-trained staff provide daily care, supervision and guidance.  Youth participate in the Career Pathways to Independence Program featuring graphic design and culinary instruction and an academic achievement center. Mental health, medical, educational and career training services are provided as well to help youth build strong futures.
