National Nonprofit The Gift of Chess Offers to Donate 25 Chess Sets to Support Inaugural Women’s Chess Tournament and Growing Community Chess Initiative in Port St. Lucie

Momentum continues to grow for Chess Queens Crown Table (CQCT) as national nonprofit The Gift of Chess has offered to donate 25 chess sets in support of the Inaugural Chess Queens Crown Table Women’s & Girls Community Open, taking place Sunday, August 2, 2026, at Panera Bread in Port St. Lucie.
The donation will help support not only the inaugural US Chess-rated tournament but also CQCT’s expanding community programs, including beginner chess lessons, family chess gatherings, instructional workshops, and outreach initiatives designed to introduce more women, girls, children, and families to the game of chess.
Founded with the mission of making chess more accessible around the world, The Gift of Chess has committed to placing one million chess sets into communities by 2030, using chess as a tool for education, connection, confidence, and opportunity.
“We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of The Gift of Chess,” said Ifa Halima Bumi, founder of Chess Queens Crown Table. “Every chess set represents an opportunity for someone to discover the game, build confidence, strengthen critical thinking skills, and become part of a welcoming chess community.”
Community support continues to grow beyond equipment donations.
Chess Queens Crown Table (CQCT) recently launched its Sponsor a Future Chess Queen initiative, allowing individuals, businesses, and community partners to help remove barriers and create more opportunities for women and girls to participate in chess.
The initiative has already begun receiving sponsorship support from individuals who believe in expanding opportunities for women and girls through chess, helping further Chess Queens Crown Table’s mission throughout Florida’s Treasure Coast.
“This tournament represents more than competition,” Ifa Halima Bumi said. “It is about creating a space where women and girls feel welcomed, encouraged, and inspired to continue their chess journey while strengthening our community one move at a time. Chess is an act of love. We want everyone to know that they belong here.”
The Inaugural Chess Queens Crown Table Women’s & Girls Community Open will feature multiple US Chess-rated sections for women and girls of varying experience levels while celebrating sportsmanship, learning, and community.
